  • Story Text: - INTRO: Thousands of Orthodox Christians gathered at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem for the Holy Fire ceremony that takes place every Easter. The ceremony, which commemorates Christ's resurrection, is one of the highlights of this weekend's Orthodox Easter.

    ----------------------------------------------------- The Greek Orthodox celebrate their Easter one week after the Latin Church celebrate theirs.

    People started arriving four hours before the ceremony to ensure that they would have a place.

    The Greek patriarch then went into a tomb believed to be that of Jesus and emerged with what is believed to be the holy fire of God.

    The fire was then distributed slowly throughout the waiting crowd, and prayers were said.
