- Story Text: Israeli troops shot and seriously wounded a Palestinian man on Wednesday (January 24) who had been protesting Israel's confiscation of West Bank land.
Local sources said Nadir Abu Hamdah was taken to hospital with a gunshot wound in his head.
Protesters at first refused to leave when tractors began digging to build a fence around Matan Jewish settlement near the Arab village of Hablah.
The protesters hurled stones and empty bottles at soldiers called in to disperse them.
The soldiers opened fire, wounding Abu Hamdah.
Meanwhile, Israeli officials demolished houses in another West Bank village because they did not have permits.
The two houses in Yatta were the first of 27 to be demolished for not having permits, according to Palestinian sources.
