- Story Text: Israeli troops wounded three Arabs with rubber bullets in clashes in the occupied West Bank town of Hebron on Saturday (November 19) as Palestinians observed a strike to mourn 12 Arabs killed in internal violence in Gaza, witnesses said.
Students left their classrooms to block streets with burning tyres and hurled rocks and bottles at Israeli soldiers, who fired back tear gas and rubber bullets.
Hundreds of young men marched in the streets of Hebron chanting slogans against Palestine Liberation Organisation chairman Yasser Arafat.
Scores were overcome by tear gas, the witnesses said.
The demonstrators blamed Arafat for Friday's bloodshed in Gaza, where Palestinian police killed at least 12 people in the worst internal Palestinian violence since self-rule began in May.
There was unrest on Saturday in other major West Bank cities and towns, including Arab East Jerusalem, and stores and businesses were shuttered in support of the day of mourning declared by Islamic groups.
