- Story Text: Hundreds of anti-Israeli government protesters gathered in Tel Aviv on Monday (July 24) night after an Islamic suicide bomber blew up a bus in a Tel Aviv suburb, killing six people and wounding 32.
The demonstrators, at the site of the blast, held torches and banners and chanted slogans against Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin.
Israel suspended peace talks with the Palestine Liberation Organisation after the attack, but Rabin vowed to resume them after the funerals of the victims.
Police identified five of the dead as four Israeli women and one man aged between 60 and 75. They suspected the sixth body was the bomber who appeared to be a Palestinian aged between 25 and 30.
The blast occurred on the eve of a July 25 deadline for a deal to expand the fourteen-month-old Palestinian rule beyond Gaza and Jericho into the West Bank.
