- Story Text: More than three thousand young Israelis on Tuesday (April 25) joined in a record breaking attempt to lay the world's longest hand printed cloth, running between Israel, Jordan and Egypt.
The 13 km (8-mile) cloth was stamped with the hand prints of over 100,000 people, including Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin.
It was created by the Israeli Broadcast Authority (IBA) children's department. All the participants on the IBA's children's show were asked to make a colourful imprint of their hands.
Contributions were also received from children throughout the world.
The final hand-print was made by the IBA's Director-General Moty Kirshinbaum.
The cloth, a symbol of the new peace in the Middle East, was taken to the southern Israeli resort city of Eilat, and stretched, over the red sea to Jordanian boats, connecting Israel and Jordan.
The huge banner was also spread along the Red Sea coast to the Israeli-Egyptian border at Taba.
