- Story Text: The Israeli Defence Minister, General Moshe Dayan on Tuesday (November 13) met the newly appointed Head of the United Nations Emergency Force, General Siilasavuo and reminded him that it was not the U.N'S job to interpret the new ceasefire agreement between Israel and Egypt or to influence the argument about its implemention.
The meeting between the two came after Israeli soldiers had removed a road block the U.N. placed on Monday night on the western approaches to Port Suez.
There were reports of blows being exchanged between Finnish and Israeli soldiers. The Israelis argued that the road block would cut off their forces in the western suburb of the town. A Tel Aviv newspaper said the U.N. had neither the power nor authority to create new facts in the area.
Behind the second moves had apparently been made to smooth out the difficulties when General Siilasvuo and General Dyan made separate on the spot inspections at the checkpoints on the Suoz Road.
After the meeting in Jerusalem, General Siilasvuo told reporters: "There was no misunderstanding today".
