- Story Text: The Israeli Prime Minister, Mrs. Golda Meir, arrived in London on Saturday (10 November) for a special meeting of the Socialist International. The meeting, to be held on Sunday (11 November), will also be attended by leaders of eight other countries, including West Germany, Austria and Sweden.
The French and Italian Socialist leaders will also be at the meeting, to be chaired by the British Opposition leader, Mr. Harold Wilson. Mr. Wilson and his party have been highly critical of the British Government's policy at the start of the Middle East war, and its ban on the supply of British arms and spare parts to Israel. The meeting is expected to discuss the situation in Chile and may review West Europe's future relations with the United States.
Mrs. Meir is expected to have talks on Monday (12 November) with the British Prime Minister, Mr. Edward Heath. The two leaders are expected to discuss the recent Middle East declaration by the Foreign Ministers of the nine Common Market countries. Israel believes that the declaration was pro-Arab. Informed sources in Tel Aviv said Mrs. Meir may take up the question of Israeli-West German relations with Chancellor Willy Brandt. She's also expected to discuss the transit of Soviet Jews through Austria with Chancellor Bruno Kreisky.
