  • Story Text: Tens of thousands of people attended the funeral in Jerusalem on Saturday night (October 15) of Corporal Nachshon Waxman, killed by guerrillas of the Hamas Islamic Resistance Movement when Israeli commandos stormed their hideout in the West Bank on Friday.

    Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was due to convene a critical cabinet session on Sunday to discuss the killing.

    Rabin visited the Waxman home before the funeral.

    In Gaza, thousands of Palestinian supporters of Hamas marched in protest on Saturday night demanding the release of hundreds of Hamas activists arrested in connection with the killing.

    The demonstrators marched from the mourning tent of Salah Jadallah - one of the abductors who was killed during the Israeli army raid on the kidnappers' hideout - to the Gaza City prison.
