  • Story Text: - INTRO: Katyusha rockets from Lebanon slammed into northern Israel on Friday (April 12), injuring at least one person, a day after a wide-scale Israeli air attack on Hizbollah guerrilla bases.

    ---------------------------------------------------- Four people were wounded in the attack including a woman motorist who suffered a direct hit on her car.

    The vehicle was on fire after it was struck by a shell in the heart of Kiryat Shmona, the northern Israeli border town. The wounded woman was evacuated for hospital treatment after being pulled free.

    Witnesses estimated some 16 other Katyushas fell in western Galilee.

    Witnesses estimated between 12 to 20 of the Soviet-designed rockets, fired by Moslem guerrillas in Lebanon, had slammed into northern Israel.

    Israeli government spokesman Uri Dromi said it was a pity that Hizbollah had ignored the warning of Thursday's Israeli air attacks, and that the Israeli government had the right and duty to defend its people.

    In Lebanon, witnesses said Moslem guerrillas fired at least six Katyusha rockets at northern Israel in apparent retaliation for a wave of Israeli air attacks on Hizbollah guerrilla bases in Lebanon.

    They said the rockets were fired from an area north of the western sector of Israel's south Lebanon occupation.

    Within 90 minutes of the Katyusha salvoes, Israeli warplanes retaliated, rocketing suspected guerrilla targets in south Lebanon.
