- Story Text: The Israeli army has re-imposed the curfew in Ramallah.
The curfew was imposed in the West Bank town of
Ramallah at 3 o'clock (1200GMT) on Monday (July 8), giving
Palestinians just 6 hours to carry out their daily chores.
But a handful of youths stayed behind shortly after the
tanks rolled back into the streets and threw stones and
bottles at Israelis in the city's central square.
Israel said it had agreed to gradually ease the curfew in
the seven Palestinian cities it re-occupied following the last
two suicide attacks in which 26 Israelis were killed. The
curfew affects some 700,000 people.
Palestinians have said there have been few signs of an
easing of the curfews - in Bethlehem the clampdown was
enforced all day whilst in Jenin and Hebron, it was lifted for
just a few hours during the day.
