- Story Text: In Jerusalem, the Israeli Cabinet has rejected an Egyptian proposal to return the northern Sinai township of El-Arish to Egyptian civil rule. Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin announced the turn-down after a lengthy Cabinet meeting on Sunday (23 July), but said Israel was prepared to negotiate this and other issues on a reciprocal basis. El-Arish, now in Israeli hands, has been the scene and topic of many military and verbal battles in the past.
SYNOPSIS: How is all this received by the people of El-Arish? Their spokesman, the town postmaster, says they want peace and freedom - under any government.
