- Story Text: Education fairs usually showcase the latest in learning tools such as books, teaching aids and school supplies.
But in Seoul, a troupe of dancing robots stole the limelight to promote robot making as a new subject that students can learn.
Dancing to a variety of tunes, the robots danced and cartwheeled on a small stage for visitors, including children.
"I saw robots in books, but it's more amazing to see them for real. And it helped me understand robots better," said 11-year-old Song Eun-jin.
The robot's manufacturer Robotron Co. LTD. plans to sell these robots to schools in the hopes of changing the mindset of students that robots can be made only by technology experts.
The company later hopes to use the robots to teach dance and science.
"The latest culture of dance like b-boy, and the latest technology of robot are seem alien from each other, but we tried to combine them," said John Ko of Robotron Co. LTD., which produced dancing robots.
The company said it plans to sell these robots to schools by this year. Each robot costs nearly 1,000 USD. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
