- Story Text: Flair, or extreme bartending, is a method of entertaining guests while preparing drinks and can include juggling, flipping bottles and shakers and more.
Bottles, glasses and ice went flying through the air on the Independent Flair League Grand Final in Warsaw on Sunday (November 23).
The top ten contestants from around the world showed off their abilities to entertain the audience and prepare drinks at the same time.
Each had six minutes to prepare three drinks in the most original way possible.
The most common trick included juggling bottles and glasses, but more experienced competitors showed off more skill.
A celebrity jury tested the taste of the drinks, while professional bartenders judged the technique of the contestants.
"Flair has an enormous influence on bars, the work of bartenders on the whole industry. Today we saw a very spectacular contest in the exhibition and working competitions, but flair is mostly about effects; raising the revenue, raising the amount of tips, more clients, publicity for the bartenders, publicity for the bar," said competition organizer Grzegorz Zieba.
First prize went to Tomasz Malek from Poland, who fought it out against rivals from the UK, Italy, France and Argentina. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
