- Story Text: The town of Arcahaie has yet to receive any help as flood waters continue to rush through their homes two weeks after four tropical storms pounded the region.
Flood waters continue to flood the town of Arcahaie in Haiti on Saturday (September 20), two weeks after a series of four tropical storms pounded the Caribbean nation, killing hundreds and driving thousands from their homes.
One resident told Reuters that no aid has yet arrived for survivors.
"It has been seventeen days still we can not get inside our home," said Maxo, surveying the damage to his home.
"Today we can not go inside the house and no one came to help us."
The lack of aid is an indicator of the threat of another humanitarian crisis in the Western Hemisphere's poorest nation.
Scant aid supplies have residents scrapping for their share and have sparked fears of a repeat of the deadly food riots earlier this year.
Of the four systems, Tropical Storm Hanna hit the area hardest, filling Arcahaie with water that continues to run through the streets and killed 500. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
