- Story Text: The members of the small Czech Pirate Party introduced their equivalent to the Wikileaks-server at the 'Mat'-cinema in Prague on Tuesday (December 21) - Pirateleaks. It is not just a link to the Wikileaks pages, but a server on its own which focuses on the hidden political and economical problems and also corruption in the Czech Republic.
The founders of the Pirateleaks described the function of the server and what it should bring to the users, Pirateleaks spokesman Jakub Michalek explained the anonymous ways how to send information to the editors organising the server.
"We were of course inspired by Wikileaks", one of Pirateleaks founders Ivo Vasiecek said. "We know the system because we are running it through our servers. The main difference is the organisation. Our server is transparent in regards to its financing. Wikileaks has not transparent financing which causes a variety of speculations. We want be open in this way. Anyone can find out, how we are financed."
Vasicek doesn't fear the consequences, which could possibly be the effect of the server work. "We simply can not fear," Vasicek said. "The situation in society is such that the power of the top is misused against citizens and we have to protect ourselves. This is the way we do it, we don't want to stay passive."
The first information people will get from the Pirateleaks pages are about the real procedures involved in law preparation and about possible corruption in the health system in one Czech region. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
