We generate electricity from the plants and we feed ourselves thanks to this mobile garden, which is biological. So, we have total energy autonomy. And this frightens those who sell energy to the people, to the citizens." Buenos Aires is a green city, it has many gardens in the green city, the Metrobus (public transport system), shared bicycles. But I think that the (piece of) art is not directly education, I don't believe in educational art. I believe in art that gives clues, footprints, room for imagination and from there effectively improve our relationship and our harmony with nature." VARIOUS OF CONCERT FOR SCULPTURE

- Story Text: An industrial hanging garden inspired by Leonardo da Vinci's eccentric sketches of flying objects awed locals in Buenos Aires on Friday (February 07).
Constructed by acclaimed French arts group La Machine, the "Aeroflorale II" sculpture stands at 18 metres and is adorned with plants, fins, balloons and propellers to draw energy from its hanging gardens.
La Machine also performed a piece of street theatre to explain the message of the sculpture.
Commandante FD from La Machine told Reuters the amazing sculpture is all in aid of promoting green energy in the South American capital.
"Here we produce gas with the natural decomposition of the vegetation. We generate electricity from the plants and we feed ourselves thanks to this mobile garden, which is biological. So, we have total energy autonomy. And this frightens those who sell energy to the people, to the citizens."
"Aeroflorale II" is the latest move by Buenos Aires' local government to promote a greener lifestyle amongst its citizens.
"Of course, its mission is to reinforce the necessity to live in harmony with nature. Buenos Aires is a green city, it has many gardens in the green city, the Metrobus (public transport system), shared bicycles. But I think that the (piece of) art is not directly education, I don't believe in educational art. I believe in art that gives clues, footprints, room for imagination and from there effectively improve our relationship and our harmony with nature," said Argentine Culture Minister Hernan Lombardi.
Buenos Aires is the third city to put the "Aeroflorale II" on show, with the striking sculpture having previously graced public squares in Turin, Santiago and Brussels. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
