- Story Text: Argentine soccer fans were revved up on Sunday (July 13) just hours before their team face off against Germany in the World Cup final.
Streets were empty and shops closed as fans gathered at venues throughout Buenos Aires to watch the match on giant screens.
Spirits were up and hopes high as the team's supporters waved flags, painted their faces and sang songs to rally the players in Brazil.
"It seems that in this World Cup, Argentina is suffering. It seems that this is part of our essence, Argentines are always suffering over something and I think that this suffering has something to do with passion. Come on Argentina!" said fan, Flavio Folchi.
Another Argentine, Maximiliano Folchi, was optimistic.
"Today we will beat Germany 2 - 0, goals by Messi and Higuain. Come on Argentina! Today we will win and come out as champions," he said.
Germany and Argentina have already played each other in two previous World Cup finals, Argentina winning 3-2 in Mexico City in 1986 and Germany triumphing 1-0 in Rome four years later. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
