- Story Text: Chinese dissident artist Ai WeiWei presented on Thursday (March 16) his creation called "Law of the Journey", a giant inflatable dinghy with 258 refugees in it, which fits and fills the whole space of the National Gallery hall and took two weeks to set up.
The artist, who visited the Greek island of Lesbos where he saw refugees arriving from Africa and the Middle East, has worked on documenting their condition throughout the past two years with his art pieces.
In one of his most recent creations before his presentation in Prague, he hung bright orange rubber dinghies from the walls of an elegant Renaissance palace in Florence to draw attention to the plight of refugees. Its name was "Reframe".
Ai WeiWei, one of China's most high-profile artists and political activists, was jailed for 81 days on charges of tax evasion in 2011. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
