- Story Text: There were mixed reactions from fans outside the stadium in Cape Town on Monday (June 14) following Italy's 1-1 draw with Paraguay.
One Paraguay fan was confident his team, which took a shock lead against the World champions, would reach the knockout stages of the tournament.
"It's very good to see Paraguay on this kind of level now. We draw against the World Cup champions. I think we're going to make the second or third round and then we'll see," he said.
Despite a poor showing, Italy fans were still confident.
"You're going to win the next one and you're going to go through and win the final," said one, while another was happy with shared points.
"I wish they'd won but it was still good," he said.
Cape Town police were on duty as security guards for the match after private stewards walked out in a pay dispute, which caused violent clashes earlier in the day.
A statement by the local organising committee said police would handle stadium security until further notice at both Cape Town and Durban stadiums, where stewards work for the same company, called Stallion Security Consortium. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
