- Story Text: Real Madrid lifted their 10th European trophy on Sunday (May 25) before an almost packed Santiago Bernabeu stadium, celebrating the end of 12-year drought without winning the long sought-after title.
Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored a record 17 goals in the tournament this year, celebrated before thousands of fans alongside team mates Iker Casillas, Gareth Bale and defender Sergio Ramos.
The "whites" secured the European Cup when Ramos snatched a stoppage-time equaliser before extra-time goals by Gareth Bale, Marcelo and Cristiano Ronaldo gave them a 4-1 win over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League final on Saturday in Lisbon.
Real attacked relentlessly in the second half but had to wait until the third minute of stoppage time for their equaliser when Ramos headed in powerfully from a corner.
Coach Carlo Ancelotti, who has won two previous Champions League titles with A.C. Milan, became the second manager to win three titles. Only Liverpool manager Bob Paisley did it before him. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
