- Story Text: Just a night away from the big show, Oscar Nominees Jackie Weaver, Charles Ferguson, Susanna Bier and Denis Villeneuve attended Sony Pictures Classics Oscar party on Saturday (February 26).
"Tomorrow night I'm just so thrilled to be nominated. I'm thrilled to be going to the Academy Awards. To be a nominee is beyond the realm of expectations for me. I, I'm quite all right with the fact that I'm an outsider and my chances of winning are not that great. But I'd really love to win," said Australian actress Jackie Weaver.
Weaver is nominated for Best Performance for an Actress in a Supporting Role for her portrayal of Janine Cody in "Animal Kingdom."
Two of the nominees in Best Foreign Language Film of the Year category, French-Canadian director Denis Villeneuve, and Danish director Susanne Bier were on hand to celebrate their films.
"The thing is, it's like the Academy Awards belongs to a childhood filmmakers mythology, you know. So it's kind of a huge honor for be there. It's kind of a kid's dream," said Villeneuve.
Susanne Bier agreed, "It means a lot for the movie has a gotten like a certificate of quality that it wouldn't of never have had before. It means a lot for me personally. It's fun and it's also super rewarding."
Susanne Bier looks to be the first Danish filmmaker to take home the award since 1988 when "Pelle the Conquerer" won the award for best Foreign Language Film.
