- Story Text: The Greek World Cup team held their pre-match training on Friday (June 11) in Port Elizabeth a day before their opening match against South Korea.
Greece held a training session in Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, the venue for Saturday's (June 12) game.
At a press conference following the training session, Greek coach Otto Rehhagel said he believes his players can perform better than in their warm-up matches.
"In the preparations we played in such a way that we didn't achieve what I really wanted to, there were a few things that needed sorting out, but I have seen that with other teams as well but tomorrow it is about being successful," he said.
"We qualified and that is a great story for a small country like Greece, when other larger nations like the Czech Republic, Croatia and Russia are not here."
Panathinaikos midfielder Georgios Karagounis told reporters that the team were ready and ambitious.
"Everyone has done his best and everybody contributed so there is no problem in the preparations and we are ready as I said," he said. "I really believe in this team and we proved this is great team and the past is the past, tomorrow's game is very important and we came here as ambitious team."
