- Story Text: Portugal's soccer squad arrived in Johannesburg, South Africa on Sunday (June 6) for the World Cup finals.
Team coach Carlos Queiroz's squad, including former World Player of the Year Cristiano Ronaldo, are in one of the toughest groups of the tournament which includes Brazil, Ivory Coast and North Korea.
Portugal will play one further warm-up game against Mozambique in Johannesburg on Tuesday (June 8) before opening up against Ivory Coast on June 15 in Port Elizabeth.
"We are convinced that we can win the next game, we will prepare for that," said Queiroz. "We are with the best 32 teams of the world to fight for one, just one place. So it is a dream. Let's try to enjoy this moment and create the best entertainment for the world."
A large contingent of fans were at the airport to greet the squad and looking forward to seeing their team in action.
"I'm very proud. It's always a great pride to have our national team here in South Africa," said Portuguese fan Cristina.
