- Story Text: Forward Wayne Rooney and defender Ashley Cole resumed training at England's camp near Rustenburg on Tuesday (June 15) after retiring to the gym the previous day.
Rooney was understood to have taken a knock to his ankle during Saturday's (June 12) 1-1 draw with the USA at the nearby Royal Bafokeng stadium while Ashley Cole sometimes misses training as the recuperation from a broken ankle he sustained in February continues.
Twenty-two players trained under the watchful eye of England manager Fabio Capello, as they prepared for their match against Algeria in Cape Town on Friday (June 18).
Defender Ledley King was the only absentee due to the groin injury he picked up during the U.S. game. The Football Association says simply his condition is under review.
On a sunny but cold and windy day at the training ground the players warmed up, lining up to dribble the ball across the pitch then taking part in a fast passing exercise which may have produced more injury worries for England when striker Jermaine Defoe pulled up with a knock late in the session. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
