- Story Text: Coach Joachim Loew led Germany's World Cup through a training session near Pretoria, South Africa on Monday (July 5) as they prepared for their semi-final encounter with Spain in Durban on Wednesday (July 7).
Loew's side face the European champions hoping to improve on their 2006 World Cup exit to Italy at the same stage when they hosted the tournament and a defeat by the Spaniards in the Euro 2008 final in Vienna.
The Germans were outclassed in the European Championship final two years ago but Loew has selected the youngest German World Cup squad since 1934 and has managed to build a side out of exciting new talent like Thomas Mueller and Mesut Ozil and old hands Miroslav Klose, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Lukas Podolski.
Germany's team have demolished international giants England and Argentina with a blend of quick passing, movement off the ball and devastating counter-attacking.
Loew's injury worries after their 4-0 quarter-final win over Argentina include midfielder Sami Khedira, who was substituted after 77 minutes of that match with a thigh problem, and striker Cacau. Toni Kroos is one possibility to repace Khedira if he should fail to recover.
One player definitely not available for selection will be Thomas Mueller who faces a one-match suspension after receiving his second yellow card of the tournament in the Argentina match. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
