- Story Text: Brazil fans celebrated their teams' slim victory against North Korea in their opening match of the World Cup on Tuesday (June 15).
The five times World champions played out a goalless first half before taking the lead through right-back Maicon who smashed a shot from the tightest of angles.
Midfielder Elano doubled Brazil's lead in the 71st minute when he side footed home after running onto a neat through ball.
But the South Americans were forced to endure a nervy finale when North Korea stunned the crowd and scored a consolation goal late on.
Brazil fan Ricardo said he had higher expectations for the game.
"Brazil a little slow and let the Koreans into the match but in the end we won and that is football," he said.
His comments were echoed by another fan.
"It could be better but we won. The match could've been better," Brazil fan Rosana said.
Brazil now top Group G as the other teams in the group, Portugal and Ivory Coast, played out a draw earlier in the day. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
