- Story Text: German Chancellor Angela Merkel met with Nelson Mandela on Saturday (October 6) at the former South Africa President's foundation building in Johannesburg.
According to sources, issues which were addressed during these private discussions included HIV/Aids funding and other issues affecting the African continent.
"All the conflicts that we have in Africa, show us his message is the right way," said Merkel after the meeting.
Germany and South Africa have enjoyed not only a healthy relationship, but also a good trading partnership over the past years, with Germany ranking fourth as an importer to South Africa.
This was Merkel's last stop in Johannesburg before she flew to Cape Town to conclude her two-day visit to the country. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
