- Story Text: Japan midfielder Yasuhito Endo said on Tuesday (June 22) that his team would play to win when they face Denmark in their World Cup Group E match.
"Everyone is playing to win so far, we are not thinking about a draw in the next game," Endo told reporters at their training ground in George.
"We have to communicate well together to win," he added.
The Netherlands uninspired 1-0 victory over Japan on Saturday (June 19) put the Dutch side on the verge of qualifying for the second round at the World Cup.
Japan needs at least a draw in order to get through to the second round of the tournament when they face Denmark on Thursday.
"I think it's a very big match for both teams. However, if we win this match or not it will depend on the power of our tactics and mental preparations. I want the players to put their best efforts into the fight," said coach Takeshi Okada.
The Netherlands beat Denmark in their first Group E match with the aid of an own goal.
Japan, who upset Cameroon 1-0 in their opener, had gone out to frustrate the Netherlands on Saturday. They attacked in numbers when they had the chance and will rue a string of missed chances, including substitute Shinji Okazaki blasting over late on.
