- Story Text: The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon roared into Maungang, Free State on Sunday (June 13) ahead of their first 2010 World Cup match against Japan.
In Cameroon's sixth trip to the finals and coach Paul Le Guan's first, the Frenchman says he hopes to revisit the team's celebrated performances of the 90's.
They reached the quarter finals in 1990, narrowly losing to England.
"We would like to go as far as possible in this World Cup and try to repeat the glorious 90's," said Le Guan.
Another newcomer to the World Cup finals is Cameroon midfielder Eyong Enoch.
"As a young player I have the advantage to have experienced players like Rigobert Song, Samuel Eto'o and Geremi, players who have participated in the World Cup before. So learning a lot from them and with the experience I think we are on a good foot," said Enoch.
The team will undoubtedly rely heavily on the goal scoring skills of Samuel Eto'o and the African hopefuls, says midfielder Jean Makoun, are not underestimating Japan in Monday's (June 14) clash.
"We have been able to watch a few of Japan's matches and it's important that we react and try and spot their weaknesses and strengths. But the important thing is what we display on the field tomorrow," said Makoun.
