- Story Text: Black supporters of the ruling African National Congress (ANC) party taunted white right-wing supremacists of the Afrikaner Resistance Movement (AWB) outside a court house in Ventersdorp, South Africa on Tuesday (April 6) where two men are being tried for the murder of AWB leader, Eugene Terreblanche.
Terre'blanche, 69, was murdered in a suspected pay dispute with black workers fanning fears of racial strains in the racially diverse country.
He was the voice of hardline opposition to the end of apartheid in the early 1990s although his party has since played a marginal role and does not have a big following among whites, who make up 10 percent of South Africans.
South African leaders have also appealed for calm in the so-called "Rainbow Nation", which is due to host the soccer World Cup in little over two months and already struggles with a reputation for crime and violence. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
