- Story Text: The Rolling Stones gave satisfaction to a Tokyo crowd for the first time in three years on Wednesday (March 22) at the opening night of a five-concert Japan tour and Asian leg of their 'a bigger Bang' world tour.
More than 35,000 fans lined up for the concert despite cold weather, hard rain and highest ever ticket price up to nearly 500 US dollars.
This is the 23rd performance at the Tokyo Dome, home to baseball's Yomiuri Giants, since the band first toured in japan in 1990.
Tokyo Dome---which has 50,000 capacity ---has hosted more rolling stones concerts and more fans than any other venue in the world.
The band also celebrated the millionth fan who had attended their concerts at the Tokyo Dome.
"Thank you. How are you doing? Are you doing well? I am glad to come again," Mick Jagger greeted fans in his Japanese- English mixed speech.
The show featured all the pyrotechnics and special effects The Stone's have made a part of their rock extravaganza.
While some Japanese fans were concerned that this might be the last Japan tour for the band, 47 year old fan Kazuo Toshimatsu insisted this was not the farewell tour.
"Their concert is always said to be the last but I don't think so. They have been heading truly unexplored path and I will follow them until the end."
The 21-song set list included some of the stones old favorites such as "(I can't get no) Satisfaction" "Jumping Jack Flash" and new songs like "Oh No not you again" from its newest album "A Bigger bang".
The band is expected to perform four more concert in japan and then they will make its mainland China debut in Shanghai on April 8. Two shows planned for China in spring 2003 were cancelled because of the SARS epidemic. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
