- Story Text: A number of suspects related to the 2007 disappearance of British girl Madeleine McCann in Portugal will appear before Portuguese police this week, the BBC reported late on Monday (June 30), citing sources.
A police source told Reuters the first of several suspects arrived at Faro police station for questioning just before 09:00 (08:00GMT) on Tuesday (July 1).
McCann, then aged 3, went missing from her bedroom at the Praia da Luz holiday resort in the Algarve region while her parents were dining with friends at a nearby restaurant in 2007, leading to a global search.
The BBC said British police were expected to sit in on the questioning, though only Portuguese authorities would ask questions.
Britain's Metropolitan Police declined to comment.
On Tuesday a group of media were gathered outside Faro Police Station where the suspects were expected to be questioned. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
