- Story Text: Designer Mark Fast displayed his collection on the London catwalk on Saturday (September 19) showing his celebration of the female form.
Models of different sizes took part in the show which showed his use of bodycon, knitted crystals and feathered fringes.
Commenting on his figure-hugging styles, he said any woman can wear his garments.
''All women can wear my clothes, it's you know, it's not just about skinny people, it's about you know, women and their bodies, and you know it's time,'' Fast said.
The inspiration for his Spring/Summer collection came from the film Erin Brokovich starring Julia Roberts. Fast wanted to show the attitude of Roberts' character in the film through his clothes.
28 year old Fast is a graduate from London fashion school Central Saint Martins, where he obtained his BA and MA. The Canadian-born designer from Winnipeg is once again being sponsored by clothes store Topshop under their New Generation Scheme.
Also showcasing her Spring/Summer collection was Greek born designer Mary Katrantzou. Her show was full of bold and graphic prints with a slight under-the-sea feel to it.
Katrantzou said she took her inspiration from objects made from glass.
''It was a tap in from last season, looking at perfumes I started looking into Lalique and Murano glass, and I was just looking at glass in general, so I thought it would be a really great opportunity to work in collaboration with a blowing glass artists and create something, because there's such beauty in these forms. So it was a slight development from where I left it last season, I'm hoping kind of move forward to more complicated shapes and more sculptural looks.'' In the audience were members of Fast and Katrantzou's family. Fast's mother had flown over from Canada to be at the show.
After Katrantzou's show, her mother Katherine, complimented her daughter and said she would wear her clothes if they were longer.
''If they were a bit longer yes, but I think they were out of this world. I don't know every time you think that's the best one and then you know it's better and better and better,'' Katherine Katrantzou said.
Katrantzou also designed the jewellery which was part of her runway collection. She, like Fast and many other fashion greats, also graduated from Central Saint Martins where she studied for her BA and MA. Katrantzou is also sponsored under Topshop's NewGen scheme.
