- Story Text: An Air Canada plane departed from Australia's Sydney Airport for Canada on Thursday (July 28), after the airline crew was forced to dump fuel and return the Vancouver-bound flight due to a smoke scare.
The airline said crew members reported smoke coming from an oven in the galley.
Sydney Airport's spokesman said the Boeing 777 aircraft had landed safely without incident.
Air Canada's general manager for Australia and New Zealand Jeannie Foster was quoted by local media as saying the plane returned to Sydney as a precaution, denying earlier reports of a fire.
Sky News quoted Foster saying that there was no fire, only smoke. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
