LV Mr. Charles Ball speaks:- "I was watching through my glasses, and he was about a mile and a half away & I saw his tail-plane break off and other parts of the plane fall to the ground." SCU Mr. Charles Ball continues:- "We saw where the engines had fallen but a great cloud of brown dust had arose behind us. There was complete silence for a minute or so it seemed, and then we realised that the engines hadn't cleared the aerodrome but must have fallen into a further group of spectators behind."
