- Story Text: Three Israeli citizens are arrested after Palestinian and Israeli protesters scuffle with Israeli forces in the West Bank city of Hebron.
Israeli security forces arrested three Israeli citizens on Saturday (April 24) and scuffled with protesters in the West bank city of Hebron.
Palestinians and Israelis gathered in the flashpoint city to protest against Jewish settlements in the area.
Scuffles broke out between the forces and the demonstrators. No injuries were reported.
An Israeli police spokesman told Reuters that the Israeli citizens were arrested for trying to enter the Muslim side of Hebron, which is under control of the Palestinian Authority and from which Israelis are barred entrance.
The spokesperson added that the arrested citizens were taken for questioning.
Home to 150,000 Palestinians, Hebron is one of the most volatile cities in the West Bank, land occupied by Israel since 1967.
Some 400 religiously-motivated Jewish settlers live in heavily guarded enclaves in the city. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
