- Story Text: Israeli soldiers raided the West Bank city of Nablus Thursday (May 24), and arrested at least 10 men, believed to be members of al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades.
Israeli soldiers entered the Balata refugee camp in Nablus, and were seen arresting at least 10 Palestinian men from one building. Each man was blindfolded and escorted by Israeli soldiers to an awaiting military vehicle.
Journalists at the scene reported the men were suspected members fo the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades.
The Israeli army soldiers fired canisters of tear gas and concussion grenades at small groups of Palestinians on the nearby street.
Sporadic gunfire rang out as the Israeli military vehicles left the city. One Palestinian militant was seen firing an automatic weapon.
The Israeli military has been on heightened alert in the past week after, after rocket attacks in the south of Israel.
The Israeli army has conducted occasional raids in Nablus in recent months. Israeli military commanders have said they are searching for wanted Palestinian militants and weapons. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
