- Story Text: Israeli forces raid West Bank village, igniting clashes with Palestinian residents.
Israeli forces clashed with Palestinians on Tuesday (March 25) during a raid on a West Bank village.
An Israeli military spokeswoman confirmed forces had operated in the West Bank village of Balata near Nablus in a "routine operation"
during which residents pelted Israeli military vehicles with rocks and debris.
"I can confirm there was a routine operation in the area which has now ended," the spokeswoman said.
Israeli troops in armoured personnel carriers entered the village in search of wanted Palestinians which sparked clashes with local residents. Some of the Israeli soldiers could be seen entering and exiting buildings in the village.
A crowd of Palestinian youths hurled stones at Israeli military vehicles as they made their way through the narrow streets.
Israeli forces frequently raid West Bank cities and towns in search for militants despite a Palestinian security plan being developed across the West Bank, sponsored by Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
