- Story Text: The UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon met with the Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa on Monday (March 21) to discuss the UN resolution that authorised military action in Libya.
Moussa had said on Sunday (March 20) that Arabs did not want military strikes by Western powers that hit civilians when the League called for a no-fly zone over Libya.
But the visit on Monday underscored the Arab League's supportive stance to the resolution. Moussa said he respected the decision taken by the UN and that there was no conflict over any action taken since the Arab League froze the membership of Libya.
At a joint news conference later that day with Ban, Moussa said the resolution was brought forward to protect civilians which was the priority for the Arab League. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
