- Story Text: 10-year-old Nadim Ayoub, the youngest member of the Palestinian national karate team, is the West Bank's very own 'karate kid'.
Like father, like son. Meet Nadim Ayoub, the youngest member of the Palestinian national karate team. His father? Tareq Ayoub, karate national champion.
Nadim has been training since age five, being mentored by his father in his 'Dragon Karate Centre' in the West Bank town of Toulkarem.
"It is rare to find in Palestine, in the Arab world or in the rest of the world in general, a ten-year-old child with such great talent and the ability to compete with some of the best national players," says Tareq, the proud father.
Asked how he became the Palestinian karate kid, Nadim says: "My father told me that if I trained a few times I would love it." And indeed he did.
Already a black belt, Nadim continues to improve with each year. He has won eight championships, including the silver medal for the Palestinian national karate championship.
Nadim has three siblings: 13-year-old Saeed and 12-year-old Mohammad and 7-year-old Razan. They are all karate enthusiasts.
Nadim also plays football and is a fan of the Spanish team Barcelona. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
