- Story Text: Israeli army raided a West Bank city on Thursday (April 6), detaining a dozen militants who Israel says belong to various Palestinian factions including al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, the military wing of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah party and the Islamic Jihad's military wing.
The troops entered the city of Nablus in the early morning hours and surrounded several buildings in central Nablus were they were looking for militants.
Palestinian stone-throwing youths confronted the army jeeps and a bulldozer as it demolished a building were militants were taking refuge, the Israeli army said.
According to Palestinian sources, there were some minor injuries caused by the clashes which erupted between the Israeli army and Palestinian youths and militants.
In recent weeks Israel has stepped up military operations onto West Bank cities, arresting dozens of wanted militants. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
