- Story Text: Small groups of ethnic Albanian men have crossed the
border from Kosovo into Albania, saying they were forced from
their homes by Serb special police units.
All of the men said they had come from the village of
Prevalac, close to the Kosovo-Albanian border. They said it
was the first time that Serb special police units had entered
their houses and forced them to move on.
The men arrived at the border post on Friday (April 23) in
ones and twos and were greeted with a handshake from the
Albanian border guard.
One of the men, who refused to be identified, described
how they were rounded up by the police and had their papers
taken. They have left their families behind as they had no
idea where they were being taken to, until they arrived at the
border.
Another man, who had a beaten face and bruising around the
eyes, said he had been beaten by Serb police before being
forced to leave for Albania.
