- Story Text: Hundreds of Kosovar Albanians, including leaders and
independent politicians, have marched into the main 'Mother
Teresa' street in Pristina in a protest against violence. But
Serbs were conspicuous by their absence.
Thousands of people, including KFOR commander General
Klaus Reinhardt, British diplomat David Slinn, and the
commander of the Kosovo Protection Corps (KPC), Agim Ceku,
marched into the streets of Pristina on Saturday (December 17)
evening under the slogan' Stop The Violence'.They all carried
lit candles - a gesture against firearms and crime.
Catholic Albanian Priest Don Lush Gjergji said "Let's
fight violence in every way.The violence that was coming from
outside, even more the violence which is caused by our people
or anybody.Violence is no good to anyone, and violence can be
fought only with peaceful means and in a peaceful manner, with
truth and above all love."
General Reinhardt said "I hope that this is a spark which
springs into the souls of other people, and tell them let's
stop the violence and let's be more tolerant."
There were apparently no Serbs taking part in the
demonstration.
