- Story Text: Hundreds of Kosovar Albanians who fled to the hills to
escape the Yugoslav army's campaign of terror are starting to
return to their villages.
The news of the Yugoslav Army's withdrawal from Kosovo
and the arrival of Nato forces has reached many of the
internally-displaced people.
Some of them on Wednesday (June 16) began to leave their
makeshift homes in the forests and return to their village
homes.
Aid organisations are concerned about mines strewn across
the countryside, woods and inside deserted buildings.
Refugees from the town of Dule, in Kosovo, say the Serbs
burnt their homes. They had just enough time to take some of
their belongings and flee into the woods.
Even in hiding, Serbs came to hound them down, said
53-year old Dule villager Hysen Perepeshi.
Now that the news of NATO's takeover of Kosovo has
filtered through, the people of Dule want to return. They feel
safer knowing that the allied forces are here and that the
Serbs have been forced to withdraw.
