- Story Text: Yugoslav mortar rounds have continued to fall on the
Albanian side of the border with Kosovo despite yesterday's
massive strike by B-52 bombers on suspected Yugoslav army
artillery and mortar positions.
Reporters at the scene said the number of mortar
rounds fired from the Yugoslav side was substantially less
than Sunday's attacks.
NATO aircraft also carried out overflights across the
border area on Monday.A U.S.Air Force A-10 tank-buster flew
over the Morina border post but did not fire its
payload.
As the Yugoslav mortar rounds fell on the Albanian side,
some 50 male Kosovan refugees walked across the border post
into Albania. Many looked exhausted and were suffering from
dehydration in the searing summer heat.
They were given water by UNHCR staff and then put on buses
which headed for the town of Kukes. The men said they came
from the Kosovan town of Metrovica and had been held in a
prison there by Serb security forces. They said they had been
interrogated about KLA activities.
