- Story Text: Vast quantities of high grade fuel used for tanks and fighter jets is being smuggled into the former Yugoslavia from Albania.
The trade is in violation of a United Nations (U.N.) embargo.
The flow of fuel is believed to be destined for the Serbian "war machine", according to a Western diplomat.
Millions of gallons of petrol and diesel fuel also have reportedly been smuggled from Albania in recent months.
The United States has complained to the Albanian government and President Bill Clinton is reportedly considering an official note.
There are at least 20 petrol stations on a 20 mile (32 kilometre) stretch of road along Lake Shkoder, from where the fuel is being smuggled.
