- Story Text: - INTRO: British pop stars The Spice Girls have shown a united front in Paris to refute rumours they are planning to split.
The Spice Girls united at a Paris news conference on Tuesday (November 18) to deny continuing rumours they were planning to call it a day.
At the conference, from which the British press was excluded, Mel B insisted: "No man is going to come between The Spice Girls." Meanwhile bookmakers Corals was laying odds that Sporty Mel C would be the first Spice Girl to score a solo success after the group sacked their manager Simon Fuller two weeks ago.
A few British correspondents managed to sneak into the news conference alongside European journalists. One British radio station managed to record part of what happened as the Spice Girls took it in turns to scotch rumours of a break-up.
Asked about a possible solo career, Posh Spice Victoria said: "That's old news, that's definitely not going to happen. That's just the last thing on my mind." Baby Spice Emma B sang: "Friendship never ends!" from the Girls' first hit Wannabe.
She continued: "We have got so much to do, we have got the movie coming out, all our singles and the tour. The tour is the main thing right now." French critics who had the first sneak preview of the film "SpiceWorld - The Movie", had mixed feelings about it, with some saying they would have to be paid to sit through it.
