- Story Text: The U.S.-led coalition in Iraq says three Albanian
soldiers were wounded in a grenade attack on Tuesday.
Guerrillas lobbed a grenade at Albanian soldiers in
northern Iraq on Monday (September 15), injuring at least
one Albanian and 13 Iraqis, the U.S.-led military occupiers
said on Tuesday (September 16).
The attack took place in the afternoon outside a local
authority building in the city of Mosul, spokeswoman
Lieutenant Tate Noble said.
Details of the incident were sketchy, but the injured
Iraqis were apparently bystanders.
Local hospital staff and witnesses said they believed
one Iraqi may have been killed, and a total of three
Albanians injured. They spoke of two grenade explosions and
firing.
"I heard noise that sounded like shooting. I looked at
the ground and saw a hand grenade and then it blew up,"
Adison Butrus, one of the injured Iraqis, told Reuters
Television from a hospital in Mosul.
