- Story Text: It was a very "A-list" cast that showed up at the AFI Fest 2009 Tuesday night (November 03, 2009) in Los Angeles for the premiere of "Everybody's Fine."
Academy award winning actor Robert De Niro joined castmates Drew Barrymoore and Kate Beckinsale for the screening that took place at the Grauman's Theatre in Hollywood.
In "Everybody's Fine," a remake of Giuseppe Tornatore's "Stanno Tutti Ben," De Niro stars as a widower who, upon realizing his only connection to his family was through his wife, sets out on an impromptu road trip to reunite and reconnect with each of his grown children. What follows is telling for De Niro's character as he discovers for the first time the truth behind his children's lives.
Actress Kate Beckinsale, who plays one of De Niro's children on screen, says she was thrilled to play opposite the legend.
"It was like the ideal family," explained Beckinsale, on working with the talented cast. "Really, it was so lovely to play Robert De Niro's daughter. Blimey, I am from West London, I should not be here at all. But, I love Drew dearly and then I worked with Sam Rockwell, who plays our brother. It was instantly very family with the siblings. Then he was very warm and nice with my kid, who plays the young me in the movie. The minute someone is really nice to my kid, I am a friend for life. It was just a lovely atmosphere."
