- Story Text: Gunmen opened fire on a bakery in eastern Baghdad on Thursday (November 16) morning, killing nine people and wounding two, police said.
Police said some of the bakery staff were among those killed in the attack in the Zayouna district of the capital, where both Sunni Arabs and Shi'ites and other groups live.
Sectarian violence and insurgent attacks kill hundreds of people a week in Baghdad and the Iraqi government has struggled to assert the independence and credibility of its security forces as militias and other armed groups have gained sway. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
